Emily Slevin

I am a dedicated dance instructor, accomplished choreographer, and competition team coach currently based in Central Pennsylvania. While my specialization lies in the contemporary genre, I boast experience teaching all styles, across various levels and age groups.

As a dancer with scoliosis who proudly wears a back brace, I defy the stereotype of a "dancer's body." In my classes and masterclasses, I strive to impart more than just technique, style, and choreography. A core mission of mine is to make high-level dance training accessible to everyone, irrespective of their abilities, financial situations, or experience levels. I aim to inspire students to foster creativity, courage, and self-confidence, challenging them to break down barriers prevalent in the dance community and those they construct for themselves.

My dance journey began in Spring Ridge, Maryland, under the guidance of former Radio City Music Hall Rockette Sheri Mendelsohn. While pursuing my BA at DePaul University in Chicago, I served as a company member on DePaul's dance company (DDC) and was elected as the Lyrical Team Captain, showcasing my choreography in theaters across the city.

Some recent career highlights include conducting masterclasses in both the US and Europe. Continuing my training at the New Cumberland School of Ballet in New Cumberland, PA, I am a member and choreographer of their dance company, Souls of the Feet. I've been fortunate to take classes from industry experts like Marissa Heart, Sabrina Phillips, and Alex Wong, attending conventions and masterclasses to continually learn and draw inspiration.
