Emily Turnis
Miss Emily is a highly regarded dance educator and choreographer hailing from Center Point. Originating from Cedar Rapids, her dance journey commenced at the tender age of 3. She soared through the competitive dance realm, securing a spot on the nationally ranked Xavier High School Dance Team, where she earned recognition as a UDA All-American and later became a UDA staff member.
A graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, Miss Emily's dance prowess extended to collegiate competition, clinching 5th place nationally as a member of the UNI dance team. Her artistic expression found an outlet within the university's dance company, Orchesis. Post-graduation, she seamlessly transitioned into coaching dance and gymnastics, boasting certifications from USAG and USTA. Miss Emily has had the privilege of working with national and Olympic-level gymnasts, further enriching her diverse dance background.
Passionate about competitive dance, Miss Emily has thrived as a coach, judge, and dance mom. Her coaching journey spans both high school and collegiate levels, earning accolades for choreographing winning routines across Iowa. In her instructional roles at various Midwest dance studios, she has held titles such as Director of Recreational Dance programs and Artistic Director. Presently, Miss Emily serves as the head coach of the Center Point-Urbana High School Dance Team, continuing to inspire and shape the next generation of dancers.
