Picabo Saunders
Picabo Saunders, a graduate of Indiana University, holds a B.F.A. in Contemporary Dance, a B.A. in International Studies, and a minor in Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures. She began her training at the Community School of the Arts' pre-professional company, Dancers Edge, and has worked with renowned choreographers like Sonya Tayeh and Desmond Richardson.
Picabo expanded her professional experience with a five-month study abroad at the Jerusalem Academy of Music & Dance, collaborating with international choreographers and immersing herself in Israel’s vibrant dance community.
At IU, Picabo performed works by esteemed choreographers and participated in numerous student productions. She has trained in styles including Afro-Cuban, ballet, Graham, and House, and has taught and choreographed in Indiana studios. Picabo's choreographic work, including her piece "Koto," has been featured in festivals like Trifecta Dance Collective’s "A New Light" and the Dance Italia Alumni Festival. Passionate about merging her academic and dance interests, she strives to create inclusive spaces that amplify diverse artistic voices.
