Shelby Matraka (Hawkins)

Shelby Matraka (Hawkins) is a professional dance instructor and choreographer based in Indianapolis. She has trained and performed in a wide range of styles, including acro, ballet, hip hop, contemporary, jazz, pom, musical theatre, kick, lyrical, tap, pointe, and ballroom. Throughout her career, Shelby has competed nationally, danced at NCAA football games, and performed at Walt Disney World events.

She has studied acro and flexibility extensively and particularly enjoys choreographing contemporary, hip hop, and jazz. Shelby has taught and choreographed for local studios and high schools and has received numerous awards for her choreography and creative concepts. She has also helped manage and develop studios, with a strong focus on competition programs and curriculum development.

Shelby’s appreciation of dance transcends the competition industry, drawing inspiration from all forms of movement and life experiences. She is grateful to share dance as a powerful storytelling art form and is passionate about inspiring dancers around the world.
